COVID-19 Updates

Nebula continues to keep the safety of our members, guests, staff and community as our highest priority. In order to remain a resource for the community, we’re continuing to reassess and update our policies + procedures as the situation evolves.

Here’s an update on what we’re doing to keep Nebula a safe workspace option for all:

Along with the City of St. Louis’ mask mandateNebula requires all staff, members + guests of Nebula to wear a face mask while moving through the building and in common areas.

Private offices, the desk room, and the shared spaces will remain open to members, as they have been throughout this emergency. We’ve rearranged common area furniture to encourage social distancing in the shared workspaces.

Nebula staff is continuing to disinfect and clean high-traffic surfaces and touchpoints in common areas and shared workspaces multiple times throughout the day.

We’re asking members to utilize our cleaning stations throughout the shared spaces, meeting rooms, and call rooms to wipe down your workspace before and after use. 

To prevent congestion and encourage social distancing, traffic in the Red Hallway and the Blue Hallway is now temporarily one-way. Follow the floor arrows for guidance.

As an independent, local business, we’d like to extend our gratitude and appreciation for your membership and support. We’re in this together and your help is crucial in implementing these precautions. Remember, wash your hands, wear a mask, maintain social distance, and stay home if you’re sick.

Over the last few months, Nebula has updated our policies + procedures to keep our members, guests + staff as safe as possible. Here’s an update on what we’ve done + continue to practice.

Along with the City of St. Louis’ mask mandate, Nebula requires all staff, members + guests of Nebula to wear a face mask while moving through the building and in common areas. Running to the restroom? Wear a mask! Grabbing something from the printer? Wear a mask! Need a cup of coffee? Wear a mask! Masks may be removed while working at individual workstations, while in meeting + call rooms and private offices.

To prevent congestion and encourage social distancing, traffic in the Red Hallway and the Blue Hallway is now temporarily one-way. Follow the floor arrows for guidance. We’ve also added markings on the floor to remind members to stand 6 feet apart while interacting with staff at the front desk and Nebula main office.

We hope you and your loved ones are well and healthy. This week, affected businesses within the City of St. Louis (and County) may begin entering phase one of reopening and resuming operations. While Nebula is taking a more cautious approach and will not be resuming full-scale operations this week, the space remains open and available to members. The Nebula team will begin transitioning from limited to full-scale operations over the course of the next few weeks. Safely meeting our member needs is always our priority; we are proactively approaching the city’s reopening plan with caution and preparation at the forefront. We’ll be using this time to explore our resources, and implement smart, sustainable systems to adapt in COVID-19 times. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks. Please read the precautions we’ve put in place and what you need to know about coming into the space.

This week, Nebula will be increasing our limited onsite staffing hours to M-F, 9 AM – 4 PM. If you need assistance, stop by the front desk and press the red Nebula button and someone will come to assist you. The Nebula team is always available via Slack or email during business hours. Starting this week, staff, members, and guests in the Nebula + Schoolhouse buildings are required to wear face masks in all public areas, including the first-floor lobby, hallways, kitchens, and shared workspaces. Employers must provide face masks, or supplies to make face masks, to employees according to the City of St. Louis’ reopening guidelines. The CDC advises the use of face coverings in a public setting to slow the spread of the virus. Nebula is still accepting and processing mail + packages. Pick up packages at the front desk, M-F, 9-4. We’ve added a new secure package closet in our first-floor lobby for members who need to pick up packages after hours or who would prefer a contactless experience. Let us know if you’d like us to leave your packages in the new package closet to pick up at your convenience.

Some meeting rooms’ capacity has temporarily been reduced; each room’s new capacity is available on our website. All meeting rooms’ flat-screens now display the room’s schedule to keep members informed of upcoming room reservations. Please add extra time to your meeting room reservations to allow time to disinfect the room after your meeting. Note, this additional time will not impact members’ monthly meeting room quotas during the pandemic.

We wish you all health and safety during this extraordinarily difficult time. As we continue to adapt to this evolving crisis, starting this week, limited Nebula staff will be onsite, Monday – Friday, 10-12. Member access remains unaffected.

Here’s what you need to know: 

  • Outside of our onsite hours, we’ll be working from home this week. We’re still available via email or Slack, M-F, 9-4. We’re focusing our energy on developing new resources and finding solutions for those in our community and neighborhood that are struggling right now.
  • We are still accepting and processing your mail + packages. We have arranged a new delivery system with our delivery partners to deliver your items safely and securely inside the Nebula building.
  • If you need to pick up a package, stop by the front desk, M-F, 10-12. If you prefer a no-contact package pick up or need to pick up a package after hours, send an email to info@nebulastl.com, and we’ll place your package in our new package closet for you to pick up safely and securely at your convenience. The new package closet is in the 1F Lobby next to the upstairs staircase. For access, scan your keycard at the package closet door.

Due to St. Louis’ stay-at-home order, effective tomorrow, 03/24/2020, Nebula will have limited staffing onsite Monday – Friday. Members’ access will remain unaffected. Along with the preventative + safety measures put in place over the last few weeks, here’s what you need to know:

  • As a CMRA, Nebula is an essential business under St. Louis City’s stay-at-home order. We are still accepting and processing mail + packages. To ensure the safety of our team, one Nebula staff member will be onsite M-F, 10 am – 2 pm at the front desk to accept and log mail + deliveries. If you need to pick up a package, please stop by M-F, 10 am – 2 pm. If you can’t make it during this time, reach out to Nebula staff.
  • If no one is at the desk M-F, 10 am – 2 pm, press the red Nebula button, and we’ll be right with you. Most of the team will be working from home and will still be available via Slack or email, M-F, 9 am-4 pm.

Like many of you, our attention is on COVID-19. Our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our members, guests, and staff. In an effort to flatten the curve, effective today, 03/17/2020, Nebula will have limited staffing onsite, M-F, 9 am-4 pm. Members’ access will remain unaffected, and we are committed to supporting you and your organizations during this time. Along with the preventative measures put in place last week, we are implementing the following additional measures.

  • We’ve created a COVID-19 Updates page on Nebula’s website where you can stay in the know on all COVID-19 and Nebula related developments and safety measures.
  • To ensure the safety of our team, one Nebula staff member will be onsite M-F, 9 am-4 pm at the front desk. If no one is at the desk during these times, press the red Nebula button, and we’ll be right with you. Most of the team will be working from home and will still be available via Slack or email, M-F, 9 am-4 pm. If you aren’t on Slack yet or would like a tutorial, let us know.
  • We’ve rearranged common area furniture to encourage social distancing in the shared workspaces.
  • We’ve switched out shared glasses, dishware, and silverware in the shared kitchen to single-use paper and plastic products.
  • We are continuing to disinfect and clean high-traffic surfaces in the shared workspaces multiple times throughout the day.
  • We are increasing signage in the space to share pertinent health information and safety reminders related to COVID-19.
  • We are postponing all events until further notice. We are currently working on a few virtual community-building and service opportunities. Keep your eyes on Slack for more updates on this!
  • The Nebula team is committed to ensuring a safe and clean work environment. We are wearing gloves to process your mail and packages and washing our hands (20 seconds!) multiple times during shifts.
  • Cleaning stations are still available throughout the shared spaces, meeting rooms, and call rooms. These stations include tissues, disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizer. Please use these supplies to wipe down surfaces after use. We ask that you do not move or take these community supplies, so they are available for everyone.
  • We are continually monitoring the situation, both locally and nationally. We will continue to prepare for all possible scenarios and hope for the best outcome.

As a Nebula member, you may be asking, “How can I help?” If you are a member, the primary way you can help is by keeping your membership active during this time. As you know, we are a small, locally-owned business. For the past ten years, we have been dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our community. We are also asking that as community members, you help us with these protective measures. These measures are directly from the CDC’s recommendations to help minimize risk.

  • If you’re feeling unwell in any capacity or displaying symptoms such as cough, fever, or shortness of breath, please stay home and seek medical treatment. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has activated a statewide, 24/7 hotline at (877) 435-8411. Or, on the Illinois side, you can call (800) 889-3931.
  • If you or someone you have been in contact with is diagnosed with COVID-19, stay home until health authorities have cleared you. Let Alexis or Sara know immediately so we can take the proper steps to notify the community, work with local health authorities, and prepare the facility accordingly.

  • Keep your hands away from your face. Cough into your elbow or tissue and immediately throw the tissue away. Limit handshakes and close contact with others and adhere to the CDC’s guidance on preventing the spread of the virus.
  • Stay up to date on the latest St. Louis news surrounding the virus on the St. Louis Post Dispatch and St. Louis Public Radio.
  • Check out the list below of Cherokee Street restaurants offering delivery or take out during this time. If you’re able, consider supporting them in any way you can.

  • We’ve set up cleaning stations throughout the shared spaces, meeting rooms, and call rooms. These stations include disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer. Please use these supplies to wipe down surfaces after use. We ask you do not take these community supplies home, so they are available for everyone.
  • We are continually monitoring the situation, both locally and nationally. We will continue to prepare for all possible scenarios and hope for the best outcome.
